Être végétalien en France: Est-ce que c'est possible?

Aktualizováno: 27. 3.

As we wrote in one of our posts, dining plays a big role in French culture. Even though this country is mainly famous for its dairy products, veganism is a surprisingly mainstream lifestyle, which caught us a bit off guard.

The school canteen is a great role model - there's a plant-based option every day without a single miss. What's more, posters about sustainability and food processing are as common as boards with timetables. In that regard, students are used to waste-sorting, and dish-sorting directly to pre-prepared "containers" with soap and hot water.

And since our Austrian roommates are vegans, we wanted to see the world through their eyes, even for just one afternoon. So here we are once again in the centre of Nîmes, trying to find some vegan spots. After just a few minutes of walking, we came across an adorable coffee shop named Farmers - furnished in boho style. We were kindly welcomed and sat by the table, which was closest to desserts (what a coincidence, right? :-)).

And the verdict is? Even in the "cheesiest" (and we mean it) country in the world, it is easy to find the little "chemins" and, from time to time, to discover lovely "cafés" which have their concept of dining and rhythm. Just keep your eyes open!

À très bientôt!
