So here we are... Last weekend has officially come, even though it doesn't feel real (at all). The time just flew by, and I'm slowly preparing to say the final "au revoir". Frankly, Winnie the Pooh was right when saying how lucky he is to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.
But let's forget about it for a while, and enjoy the last few days!
We took Saturday quite slowly - we went for a walk to the centre of Beaucaire (founded in the 7th century BC, was known as a city on the famous Via Domitia, the first Roman road built in Gaul linking Italy to Spain), a commune where my correspondent lives. We wandered around, visited the local "Ruines du château" and adjacent gardens, and took plenty of photos with picturesque "rues" and squares, but mainly enjoyed the sunny weather because the spring was in the air.
In the evening, we feasted on Paella (a traditional Spanish dish consisting of rice, seafood, and plenty of saffron), because my host family is half Spanish. Finally, we finished the day by watching a futsal match at the local leisure centre.
On the other hand, we kicked Sunday off in style and went to the beach to have a lovely "pique-nique" with a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean Sea. Moreover, we were lucky enough to see the traditional "Corrida" and quickly peek into the "Arènes", where this event took place.
On our way home, we drove through the region of Camargue and saw the typical landscape that undoubtedly defines this area - wild horses, swamps, traditional huts, and vast meadows. In the evening, we had a farewell dinner and talked late into the night.
Although it was a bit bittersweet, we made the most of our time together, including the unintentional swim :-)
