The first week of school was officially over, which meant only one thing - to meet the host families. On Friday afternoon, we said goodbye to each other and made our way to our temporary homes - mine in Beaucaire and Pája's in Nîmes (since the dormitory is closed during weekends, this was the only solution).
As soon as I arrived, the whole family kindly welcomed me. They showed me around, including the town centre and the medieval fortress, for which Beaucaire is famous. In the evening, I saw a Flamengo rehearsal thanks to my "correspondate", who has Spanish ancestry. It was a unique experience since I'd never thought I'd come across Spanish culture in France.
On Saturday, we set off early to see the Van Gogh exhibition in Les Baux-de-Provence - the whole show was projected onto the walls of a cave, simply a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The entire projection was enriched by musical accompaniment. If you want to experience it yourself, here's the link: https://www.carrieres-lumieres.com/en (other shows are held in Paris, New York, and Amsterdam).
Afterward, we went for lunch in the late afternoon, featuring "porc caramélisé", Ceasar salad, and lasagna. For dessert, we ordered the "flan parisienne" - supposedly the most favourite dessert among all the French.
On the other hand, Sunday was spent in the family spirit. The oldest sister came to visit us. We had a great meal together and then visited the "Pont du Gard" - an ancient Roman aqueduct bridge built in the 1st century AD.
And with that, the weekend is suddenly over, and we're slowly entering the 2nd week of our "séjour". Who knows what it will bring?
À très bientôt!
